The place that contains England
on the road with Korean history and tradition.
We went to Queen’s Guard.
It’s become the last week of February, the end of winter. It has been a series of cloudy days that seemed a little early before the bright spring came. We hope the day when we can see the clear sky will come as soon as possible. We went to a British pub called Queens’s Guard on Seosulla-gil, which is a good place to walk even on cloudy days. Seosulla-gil is formed along the fence surrounding Jongmyo Shrine. Based on Jongmyo Shrine, the west road is divided into Seosoonra-gil and the east road is Dongsoonra-gil. Compared to Dongsoonra-gil, Seosoonra-gil is more active because it connects with the downtown areas of Jongno. The quiet yet occasionally seen sensuous restaurants and cafes create a special atmosphere thanks to the stone walls of Jongmyo Shrine. We walked slowly from Myeongdong store to Seosoonra-gil. We were used to this place because it was a neighborhood where we went to work every day, but we think there were a lot of places that we had not seen before. I think we were just looking forward to our destination only. As we walk slowly and leisurely, we can see interesting things.
This is the take-out specialty coffee shop called Seattle Coffee House that we saw passing by. The exotic atmosphere stood out. Later, we searched and found out that Einspanner is famous for its taste. We will try it later when we have time.
On this day, I wore an orange and navy-colored check jacket, an inner denim shirt and a navy turtleneck, denim pants, and a M-65 field jacket. There are many ways to create a casual atmosphere in the genre of classical music, but adding it with military wear can make it feel more masculine. The basis of all men’s wear is the origin of military wear, so it’s a good medium to combine with various men’s wear genres.
And there is a new story about the check jacket in orange and navy color. For more information, we will explain it to you in a post later :)
If you look at the first page of Queen’s Guard’s menu, you can feel the identity of this pub. The charm of this place is that it is a place where the differences between British men, Korean women, and a British pub converge and coexist. An English pub would be unfamiliar than how you think of it. Liquor and food were also a composition of menus that were more local, not like those of typical pubs. Also, you can take in snacks that go well with the drinks at Queen’s Guard by delivery or by yourself. We think this is the only place for alcoholics to love.
We ordered drinks and food, and we spent time with the Lady, the symbol of Queen’s Guard. Even though she was a lady, it seems like she was a very handsome friend.
For the first glass, we had a mermaid original gin and tonic with cucumbers and juniper berries on garnish and a non-alcoholic mojito highball. By the way, I really like cucumbers, and when cucumbers were added to the drink, the scent was very strong. I like cucumbers, but the scent was so strong that it felt like ‘Hmm?’ so those of you who like cucumbers should also refer to it and try it.
For the second glass, I tasted the handmade infusion gin, the Queen’s Guard’s signature gin. It was a British infused spirit, and I think it’s unfamiliar and interesting. Korea’s infused spirit culture uses one or two herbs to store and enjoy it for a long time, and the British-style infused spirit has a cool hit to the throat and various aromas to cool the gin along with various ingredients such as spices, fruits, and herbs.
The food we ate together was not on the menu, but a British man had suddenly made it on the day. I’m not sure if this will be on the menu later. It was a pastry with cheese and tuna. The flavor was great because it had a strong cheese and thick tuna flavor. A Korean woman said, “It’s a very good combination with beer! If you like beer, get yourself a drink,” but I was working, so I couldn’t drink it because I felt guilty for up to 3 glasses. I should come over for a glass of beer and pastries later.
There is also a place to enjoy outdoors around the entrance of the store. If you sit back to the store and look ahead, you can see the stone wall road of Jongmyo Shrine right away. There were many trees on top of it, and I was looking forward to seeing a better scenery when spring came soon. It is thought that it will be a place where many people can visit and enjoy when the weather gets warmer.
It was a space where we could experience a new genre of beverage and culture.
We would like to thank all the staff members of Queen’s Guard for giving us positive energy with a lively atmosphere.
It’s not boring to wear a suit,
but it’s wonderful to wear a suit.
and we introduce it to you with a space.
